Don't Burn Your Basin

NASA has said that the current total burning in the Amazon Basin is slightly below a 15-year average.

There really is a problem there. But the present hysteria is part of that problem.

Another hung Parliament is coming, however, and we need our people to hold the balance of power in it. A new party is now in the process of registration.

I will stand for Parliament here at North West Durham even if I can raise only the deposit, which I could do by going pretty overdrawn, although that was not how I was brought up. Buy the book here.

I would still prefer to raise the £10,000 necessary to mount a serious campaign, but I am no longer making my candidacy conditional on having done so. Please email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com. Very many thanks.

  1. When Notre Dame was on fire the world was outraged. Why not the same outrage about the burning of Brazil’s greatest national treasure?

    1. There doesn't seem to be any shortage of it.

  2. Well who knew?

The record number of fires in Brazil's Amazon rainforest has coincided with a sharp drop in fines for environmental violations, BBC analysis has found. Official data from Brazil's environment agency shows fines from January to 23 August dropped almost a third compared with the same period last year. At the same time, the number of fires burning in Brazil has increased by 84%.

  3. Bolsinaro is a clown. When a tribal leader was murdered by illegal ranchers and he denied it happened. When his own country’s satellite images showed an increase in fires he claimed it was “lies” (how can a satellite lie?) and sacked the head of the agency that revealed it. Now he claims the fires have been started by Greenpeace to discredit him.

If it wasn’t so tragic, it would be a farce.
