Most Catholics just know that they are Catholic, and that is that.
Next to no one would follow a few "liberal" German bishops (paragons of orthodoxy by Anglican or by mainstream Lutheran standards) into schism, even were those bishops prepared to give up the financial security of the Church in Germany.
And any "conservative" schism in America would be lucky to secure an episcopal succession, although Cardinal Burke might provide one, when he is not playing to the cream of the Oxford gay scene, as was recently the case.
The Barque of Saint Peter would sail on undisturbed.
The Pope seems to prefer liberal German Cardinals to conservatives. Burke was demoted while Walter Kasper was invited to contribute his radical views to the Synod on the Family.
ReplyDeleteThis Pope has now embraced Global Warming alarmism, the fantasy of "man made" climate change that is the excuse for destroying our industry and independent energy supply and imposing crippling taxes on the poor.
As Rick Santorum said, the Pope should leave science to the scientists.
Global Warming alarmism is politics, not science.
If you can ever quote Sanatorum for any purpose other than to laugh at him, then you have no idea what you are talking about. But then, that was already more than abundantly apparent.
DeleteCardinal Burke, a canon lawyer with very little theological expertise, is just a touring drag act. That is a fact. Wherever he goes, the high camp turn out to revel in his Liberace-like display and then to coo about it on social media.
When he was in Oxford not long ago, an overwhelmingly gay Anglo-Catholic institution turned up en bloc and made up much of the congregation. That is his audience, wherever he goes. He cannot be unaware of that.
What do you think that Cardinal Kasper is going to do? What do you think that he is, an Anglican liberal? Nowhere near.
I am looking forward to the Synod, because it will blow the Santorum Tendency out of the water by saying absolutely nothing to justify that Tendency's scaremongering, thus compelling such people to admit their true motivation, and either to shut up or to close the door behind them.
