Where The Heart Is

American workers would have been sent home if the dispute over the federal budget had not been resolved. But military personnel stationed abroad would merely have been left unpaid. In that case, they ought to have taken themselves home and stayed there. Would you go to work for no pay? Where in whatever oath that they swore did it say that? The debate on America's unconstitutional empire could then have begun in earnest. All in all, a bit of a shame that it never happened. Not this year, anyway.
