Disrepute

Relatively speaking, quite a few people were expelled from the Labour Party for links, sometimes quite tenuous ones, to the Soviet Union or its satellites. And why not? But Britain was never at war with any of those regimes.

Yet Britain is now at war with the Gaddafi regime in Libya. So, when are those with far from tenuous links thereto going to be expelled from Labour? Beginning, though certainly not ending, with Tony Blair and with David Cameron's would-have-been Cabinet colleague, Peter Mandelson.

Why has this not already happened?

  2. But you wouldn't stop here would you? This is about expelling people with links to Israel, Georgia, probably Taiwan, definitely American liberal interventionism, and "European federalism." You also want to reopen ancient files on people who were "Communists" or "Trotskyists" 30 or 40 years ago. The Old Right's revenge on the people who won three elections.

  3. "30 or 40 years ago"? Hardly...

  4. Are you REALLY standing for parliament. Are you REALLY expecting people to vote for you?

    OMG.

  5. What are the alternatives? There seems to be a conspiracy of silence around the fact that Gaddafi invented the Third Way and retained/retains the closest possible links to its practitioners. We need people from totally outside the political class and its interchangeable/disposable parties. We need people like David Lindsay.
