As Mark Easton pointed out on the Today programme, it is the combination of left-wing economics and social conservatism that delivers the happiness and well-being that the Coalition is at least ostensibly so keen to prioritise.

What fun, listening to Sheila Lawlor insist that nothing really existed, or at least mattered, unless it could be measured and expressed economically. That side have always been the real, inveterate, true-believing Marxists.
