Free To Air

A cartel? Get a grip.

ITV is being commercially sensible by not putting up anything much against EastEnders or Strictly Come Dancing. The BBC is being true to its public service remit by catering for whatever minority taste it serves whenever Coronation Street or The X Factor is on the other side. Where is the problem?

On precisely which nights of the week does Channel Four or Sky expect, or even aspire, to beat BBC One's or ITV's viewing figures? Is that even what Channel Four, in particular, is for?
