Unwarranted Discrimination

All we wanted to do was keep the all-male Priesthood, and continue to marry only opposite-sex couples. And now, we can. If there is some sort of ban on homosexually inclined laypeople holding senior positions in Catholic schools or Catholic charities, then all I can say is that no effort is being made to enforce it.

There may be a ban on people who have gone so far as to contract civil partnerships, but that is something else. And the issue, in that case, is not of our making. With no legal requirement to be consummated, civil partnerships are unjustly restricted to unrelated same-sex couples. This iniquity must end. When it did, then there would be reason in principle to ban those who have contracted such partnerships from holding senior positions in Catholic schools or Catholic charities. If any such ban exists, that is.
