Justice

The question of the purpose of the Alliance Party of Northern Ireland seems at last to have been answered: it exists to provide a Justice Minister, thus co-opting yet another party into the forced coalition that puts them all in government all the time, so that no one is asking any questions.

But can someone please explain to me the problem, from a Unionist point of view, with executive decisions about public services being made by members of Her Majesty's Government, drawn from and accountable to the Parliament of the United Kingdom?

Recent events have revealed the depth of objection in Northern Ireland both to the cartel system and to the weird Ulster Nationalism of all the parties that benefit from it, since Gerry Adams would not want Belfast run from Dublin any more than Peter Robinson wants Belfast run from London. Who will tap into that feeling and give it an electoral voice?
