Hopes and Fears for 2008

Tell me (and each other) yours.

My main fear is President Giuliani or President Romney, because only one morally and socially liberal Democrat has ever won the Presidency, and even he spoke with a Deep Southern accent and quoted from the Bible as often as possible. His wife (for she is notable as nothing else) has no such attractions. And nor has Barack Obama.

  1. Fears:

    Recession.

That the HFE Bill is passed by parliament.

That the British Pro-Life movement continues to display all the political nous that has served it so well in the past 40 years.

That the offensive campaign for state funding of political parties continues, helped along by dimwit editorials in The Tablet.

That The Incrediblyanticatholic continues running a steady stream of incredibly anti-Catholic stories
    and opinion pieces.

That Migration Watch continues to spray its anti-immigration rubbish all over the press.

That a new US president will reverse the progressive Mexico City policy and restore funding to the disgusting human rights busting UNFPA.

    Hopes:

For Alan Johnson MP to go away somewhere, anywhere.

    To meet all my deadlines.

That the National Secular Society and British Humanist Association both go bankrupt.

For the flowering of a progressive pro-lifeism in the UK which then takes the world by storm.

For more splits in the BNP.

  2. And look what that one liberal Democrat President gave us. NAFTA and GATT.

The more liberal they are morally, the less they care about the poor. The more conservative they are morally, the more they care about the poor. This doesn't always apply to Republicans, but it does to Democrats.

So I pray that you are right, that there will be the return of the real Democratic Party in 2012.
