Doing God, Doing Drugs

At least Nick Clegg is honest. Far more honest than, say, those who even now treat the culturally Methodist agnosticism of Margaret “Christians believe in life after death and I am a Christian” Thatcher as the essence of devotion, but the culturally Methodist agnosticism of Neil “Jesus did not die on the Cross” Kinnock as atheism foaming at the mouth.

I have never taken any illegal drug. Nor should you. And I have nothing but contempt for any politician who fails to answer this very important question. Nor should you have.

  1. Why? What difference does it make if a politician experienced drugs in their youth?

I would view it as a good thing if they had plenty of experience - They might actually consider drugs policy based on the actual reality instead of the hysteria spread by the tabloids.

But then I guess I'm just a loony libertarian.

  2. That, and you answer your own question immediately upon moving on to the next paragraph.

What else do politicians need to have experienced first-hand in order to formulate or implement policy on them?

And would that "tabloid" views on drugs had ever had the slightest impact on drugs policy, under either party.
