It is suggested that the Government's ban on books by anti-capitalists would prevent the teaching of William Godwin, William Morris, J.B. Priestley, Noam Chomsky, Jean-Paul Sartre, and George Orwell.
Indeed, the name that keeps coming up is that of Orwell, an MI5 nark who was much invoked in support of the Iraq War, and whose two most celebrated works were in my day taught to the middle set. I was a Shakespeare boy.
But as for the rest, would that they were already being taught in schools. With next year's exams even less likely to be held than next year's elections, take this opportunity to acquire an education instead by reading, among many others, those.
Just be sure to have Newman, the Chesterbelloc and the rest of that gang to hand as well. Also anti-capitalist, they are not taught in schools, either. Any schools.
