Cold, Strategic Reality

It is hardly news that Britain is the world's second biggest exporter of arms, with Saudi Arabia as our biggest customer. But what is rarely mentioned is that this is a strategic disaster.

Saudi Arabia inspires, funds and directs terrorist activity right here in Britain. No one else does that. No other remotely foreign actor has done that in decades. So the arms that we sell might very well end up being used against us, right here on our own streets. Or in the Middle East itself, where that is practically guaranteed.

The same is always true of the arms trade. At best, you never know where the stuff might end up. As often not, you know only too well. This is not bleeding heart liberal stuff. This is cold, strategic reality. BAE Systems should be renationalised as the monopoly supplier to our own Armed Forces, with a ban on all sale of arms abroad, and with a comprehensive programme of diversification.

In each constituency in 2024, there should be one candidate, of any party or none, who subscribed to this and thisThe complete list of those candidates would appear here, and anywhere else that would publish it. If I could raise enough money to be a viable candidate, then I would contest the seat where the most people had offered to sign my nomination papers. Please give generously.
