The purpose of schools is not, in principle, to provide somewhere to put children while their parents were at work. In practice, perhaps. But not in principle.
Bring them back in May, when they were going to be off again in July, and with this academic year's curriculum completely shot? Educationally, what for?
It'll not happen. As much as anything else, the teachers are on full pay, and if anyone is going to be asked, then it is going to be them.
