Forward To Basics

The War made the National Health Service the only way of rationalising the fairly haphazard array of largely reactive arrangements that had nevertheless made the British used to universal healthcare. The NHS duly appeared in all three manifestos in 1945, and here we are.

When all of this is over, or clearly coming to an end, then the Universal Basic Income will be the only way of rationalising the fairly haphazard array of largely reactive arrangements that had nevertheless made the British used to pretty much what the UBI was intended to deliver. That will put a necessary platform under Modern Monetary Theory's Jobs Guarantee. Great days lie ahead.

There will be resistance, but mostly from the people who are once again in control of the dying Labour Party. Keir Starmer is being praised to the skies as "forensic" and what have you, for having asked the same questions that Jeremy Corbyn asked a month ago, although neither of them got any answers.

"An effective Opposition at last"? Under Corbyn, Labour defeated the Government in the Commons a record 41 times. There will indeed be none of that under Starmer. But let nothing you dismay. The Budget of March 2020 has ended the era that began with the Budget of December 1976. The Centre is the think tank for this new era. Please give generously.
