Grand No More

Now that Kim Davis is a Republican, why not make her Speaker in place of John Boehner?

It is nothing more than a statement of fact to say that, as a serious national force, the Republican Party is finished.

    A Christian fired for refusing to issue gay marriage licenses in what was once the land of the free.

    It's amazing, as Peter Hitchens says, how few people realise the cultural revolution that swept America under Clinton and has accelerated under Obama.

    It is simply no longer recognisable as America.

      This is what the American Republic was always intended to be. And, broadly speaking, has been. That Evangelical fightback is a feature of only the last 45 years or so.

      The Deep South did, in practice, used to be as they imagine that America at large was. But nowhere else was. It was just that they never went anywhere else.

      The American Conservative has been good on the Davis case. She is an illiterate hillbilly lawbreaker who inherited her position and who is taking steps to pass it on to one of her own children.

      She is defending "traditional marriage" only in the sense that her own bizarre marital history is perfectly normal where she comes from.
