      As with many things, I am more of a friendly critic and a critical friend, around it but not quite in it.

      We were all very touched to meet you at last year's Nottingham conference, notice how the room went into hushed reverence when you asked a question. Even Phillip Blond said that you had "anticipated" Blue Labour and Red Tory. You are a legend. But you are right, you are not quite in it. You are bigger than that, so you will still be hugely, quietly influential when things have moved on. By all accounts, you have always been like that in a lot of areas.
