I had never previously heard of this Smurthwaite person. I had never heard of Dapper Laughs, either. To be fair, it turns out that I am hardly the target audience for either of them.
Anyway, all of this may herald the end, not a moment before time, of the 20-year-old tendency to regard stand-up comedians as the fountains of all knowledge, understanding and wisdom.

Where serious people are concerned, we need Free Speech Halls, as once there were Temperance Halls. A national network of them, in university towns, but off university property.
