This was only Shami Chakrabati's second-biggest gig
of the month.
A fortnight
ago, she addressed the Durham Miners' Gala.
Political prisoner, activist, journalist, hymn-writer, emerging thinktanker, aspiring novelist, "tribal elder", 2019 parliamentary candidate for North West Durham, Shadow Leader of the Opposition, "Speedboat", "The Cockroach", eagerly awaiting the second (or possibly third) attempt to murder me.

ReplyDeleteLook it's off-topic. You know it's off-topic, I know it's off-topic but there we are. There is no need to publish this it is just that you haven't covered the RoI in the last couple of days.
Have you ever made yourself known to the reform group?
I wouldn't necessarily agree with them on the fourth point. It would depend exactly what they meant. They seem to be Southern Unionists who have pretended to have forgotten that the Irish language is only still spoken at all because of the efforts of Southern Unionists.
ReplyDeleteAs for the more inclusive identity, the constitutional revisitation, and the Commonwealth membership, well, yes, they are all well on the way. People who wanted these things used to be allied to the Catholic ultras, as they were known, who certainly never used to like the Ireland that existed until about 15 years ago, whatever they or anyone else might choose to pretend now.
Such an alliance, which tried and failed to block the present Constitution, may yet have its day.
