Male Members

In reply to a post yesterday, I have received an email pointing out that applying to be a People's Peer is pretty much a man's only remaining hope of getting into Parliament. From all parties these days, qualified men who have either been passed over for less qualified women, or told not to bother at all on grounds of sex, should redirect their applications to the House of Lords Appointments Commission.

  1. You should reapply after the Election with your referees Baroness Armstrong and Pat Glass MP.

  2. But surely after the election he'll have his hands full as MP for North-West Durham?

  3. They'd both do it. But that won't be necessary.

  4. Indeed.

But I do think that there are a lot of men out there who should give this a go. In fact, I know there are. Most of them have worked out that their respective parties have left them. And I can't imagine that many, if any, of the rest would feel any great wrench.
