    Excellent. Some "free market" Catholic writers like George Wiegel and Michael Novak must have went into conniptions when they read "Caritas in Veritate." Didn't some of them try to get around directly criticizing the Holy Father by attributing "Caritas in Veritate" to a secret, left-wing cabal in the Vatican that somehow usurped the encyclical?

    It is of course they disciples of Max Shachtman who are precisely such a cabal.

    Just looked up Max Shachtman. I am very surprised to see how many neoconservatives were ex-Marxists, especially Trotskyists. But then again, perhaps I should not be so surprised. The mainstream "conservative" movement in America is rather bizarre, given that it isn't very conservative, at least not in the positive ways that matter most. We need more folks like you, Mr. Lindsay, who understand what real conservatism is supposed to conserve.
