Disparity

Older readers may dimly recall the Hutton Report, which was laughed out within an hour of publication, by everyone apart from the weird little sect that was, unfortunately, the Government of the day, and which is now the Official Opposition. Brian Hutton died last year, deservedly forgotten by the world, although not by the weirdos.

In the same vein is the Sewell Report of the Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities, which was laughed out before it had even been published, by everyone apart from the weird little sect that was, unfortunately, the Government of the day and its media courtiers.

The Sewell Report's headline was that there was no racism in Britain, and it decorated that with talk about class, about which we all know that nothing is going to be done. On the first point, are the prisons full of white cocaine users? On the second point, are the prisons going to be filled with posh cocaine users? Well, there you are, then.

Their purpose served, the Government has sacked the authors of the EHRC report into anti-Semitism in the Labour Party. It has appointed a Chair of that body who rejected the IHRA Definition. But back in those hysterical days, then all the talk was that it was up to Jews, or at least to the right sort of Jews, to define anti-Semitism in any way they pleased. Something similar is happening, again with Government connivance, in relation to "rape culture".

There is, however, none of that here. At best, they have faked the names of black academics who had had no part in this exercise, and who ought to sue. Government advisers in this field have had so little involvement that they are resigning their positions. After all, what is the point of advising the Government on anti-racism when there is officially no racism at all in this country?

Oh, well, who are going to be the advisers on what are suddenly the all-important issues of class, regional disparity, and family structure? On that last, are they going to be Carrie Symonds and Jennifer Arcuri? Be warned, though. Arcuri, at least, does not come cheap. How much public money would she need to write a report for Boris Johnson, when she needed £126,000 of it just to have sex with him?
