Delays in criminal court proceedings, often for years, are not accidental, and they are certainly not a consequence of Covid-19.
They are built into a system that is designed to wear down defendants. And they always have been.
Lo and behold, proposed "solutions" include removing the right to elect trial, and otherwise restricting trial by jury.
Although even that is just cutting out the middleman.
