As the penny drops that a domestic steel industry might be a good idea after all, a deep coal mine in West Cumbria is on its way. Only Robert Jenrick could still block it, if this Government wanted to kiss goodbye to the Red Wall.
But the establishment of a Conservative Party campaign headquarters in Leeds strongly suggests that it does not. Try and imagine the establishment of a Labour Party campaign headquarters even as far north as Leeds, which some of us regard as being in the Home Counties. Well, there you are, then.
The transport infrastructure is also taking shape, requiring not only domestically produced steel, but also domestically produced electricity, from coal, nuclear, and lithium. But no party is entirely sound on these things, of course. The enemy is within each of them.
Therefore, in each constituency in 2024, there should be one candidate, of any party or none, who subscribed to this and this. The complete list of those candidates would appear here, and anywhere else that would publish it. If I could raise enough money to be a viable candidate, then I would contest the seat where the most people had offered to sign my nomination papers. Please give generously.
