Another valiant abstention by the Official Opposition.
I am fully pro-lockdown, and we had better get used to calling it that again. But there has to be proper parliamentary scrutiny, and neither main party really exists to vote endless new powers to the other one. Presumably, the same was the view of the six Labour rebels.
Three of those were left-wingers of varying stripes, of whom two were in the Shadow Cabinet not very long ago, in one case under the present Leader. But the other three were personifications of the right-wing machine, whose rebellion was presumably also a more general putting down of a marker.
If Keir Starmer is starting to lose Kevan Jones, John Spellar and Derek Twigg, then he needs to have a long, hard word with himself.
