If he had not taken part in the infamous Labour abstention of 2015, then Andy Burnham would have become Leader of the Labour Party.
In that case, the 2015 Parliament would probably have run its course, and Burnham might very well have become Prime Minister this year.
Still only 50, he has clearly lost none of his national ambition.
