Boris Johnson's hatred of council housing certainly accounts for his record on that issue when he was the Mayor of London.
That, in turn, is no small part of why, after nearly 40 years of failure under all three parties, most people now place little or no priority on whether or not they can own their own homes.
They would just like to be sure of having a home at all.
More important than Boris... what will now happen to George, Bungle and Zippy after yesterday's death of Geoffrey?
