Grasp The Door Handle

Of course John McDonnell would not fire nuclear weapons. Nor would anyone else. No other country, none, has this silly, science-fictional line of questioning.

And even in Britain, it is only ever put to one party, the same party that is only ever asked to justify its economic claims. Whatever the Conservatives say on economic policy is just assumed to be correct. They are never, ever asked to explain or defend it.

We are told that countries with nuclear weapons are never invaded. But most countries do not have nuclear weapons, and most countries are never invaded. Who would invade Britain, anyway? Why would anyone want to do that?

15 years ago, we invaded a country precisely because it had nuclear weapons. It didn’t really, of course. The Prime Minister of the day long ago admitted that he had never believed that it did. But that was the official reason for invading it.

The memory of that does give some context to the shrieking of the Blairites and the Conservatives, almost all of whom backed Tony Blair on Iraq, that the Left is engaged in “conspiracy theories” about weapons of mass destruction in perfume bottles in Wiltshire.

Notice that no charge has been brought in relation to the death of Dawn Sturgess. If you want Coroners’ Inquests into the deaths of Ms Sturgess and of Dr David Kelly, then another hung Parliament is coming, and our people need to hold the balance of power in it. My crowdfunding page is here, or email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com for other options. That address accepts PayPal.

I also seek your support for the cancellation of Trident in favour of rebuilding the conventional Armed Forces, in favour of care for veterans, in favour of flood defences, and in favour of an “all of the above” energy policy based around civil nuclear power and around this country’s vast reserves of coal, with the commanding heights in reformed public ownership, with no need for fracking even in its own terms, and with the requirement of the approval of the House of Commons before energy or water prices could be increased.

In the case of Trident, we could pay the affected shipyard workers quite eye-watering sums in compensation, and still save amounts that there were scarcely the adjectives to describe. And that would be before we added in the value of having a grownup political debate at last.
