Aid and Succour

So Donald Trump cuts aid to Pakistan? Well, the Pakistanis just make it up, and more, from China, then. Welcome to the world.

The world of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, down to and including what will amount to a new city at Gwadar, may not be morally or aesthetically pretty.

But we did it ourselves, back in the day. This is the world. There is no other. Get on the bus, or fall under it.

Expect the Chinese, either alone or with others, to make up the shortfall for the UNRWA, too.

America was not "the indispensable nation" when the repugnant Madeleine Albright coined that ridiculous phrase, and America does not remotely resemble any such thing now.

As for China's putting down of the Islamist insurrection in Xinjiang, we would do the same if that were happening in Britain, and we would be right.

We would fund and arm the thing, if mercifully to no avail, if it were happening in Idlib. But we would at least have to wit to suppress it on our own soil. Just as the Chinese are doing.

We must demand trade deals with the BRICS countries, even while remaining thoroughly critical of all five of their present governments.

We must demand integration into the Belt and Road Initiative, of which the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is itself an integral part.

And we must demand that there be no more support abroad for the Saudi invasions and for the Saudi-backed insurgencies that we would rightly nip well and truly in the bud on the streets of Leyton, Luton or Leeds.

Another hung Parliament is coming, and our people need to hold the balance of power in it. My crowdfunding page is here, or email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com for other options. That address accepts PayPal.
