Ed Miliband, who with Gordon Brown and Ed Balls successfully held out against the euro during the Blair years, could now position himself within the European popular, political and parliamentary mainstream by proposing legislation with five simple clauses redefining the United Kingdom's relationship with the European Union.
That legislation ought to command the support of all parties, and it would call the bluff of the supposedly numerous backbench Tory Eurosceptics.
