Poison Currie

It is easy to laugh at Edwina Currie, what with the absolutely serious claim in her published diaries that Gillian Shepherd had been put into the Cabinet on account of looking like her but, unlike her, posing no threat to the Leadership of John Major.

However, Currie is a very evil woman, who obtained damages from The Observer by means of perjury, and who appointed the totally unqualified Jimmy Savile to chair the review of Broadmoor in order to break the Prison Officers' Association there.

It is inconceivable that Special Branch or MI5 had made neither her nor her boss, Savile's very close friend Margaret Thatcher, aware of his activities. But, as so often, breaking the union was the only thing that mattered.

Thatcher, like Savile, is dead.

But Currie is not.

  1. I thought that you didn't believe all this stuff about Savile? He was a good Catholic after all. Surely Edwina can't be blamed for respecting a man of such very solid faith.

    1. Don't believe everything, or indeed anything, that Damian Thompson tells you. Although I hope that Fraser Nelson is claiming a training grant from the DWP, for taking Mabel on now that she is a NEET.
