Compared to the Gaza ceasefire marches, 110,000 was so pitifully low that Stephen Yaxley-Lennon has had to claim a ludicrous three million in the hope that his financial backers might believe him. But 26 Police Officers were injured, yet there were only nine arrests. A week earlier, 890 people had been arrested for having injured absolutely no one.
Even while attacking the Police, Yaxley-Lennon's supporters were permitted to kettle the counterdemonstration while those same Police professed to be powerless. On 18 January, an alleged 10-yard departure from the approved route had led them to arrest the leaders of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, of the Stop the War Coalition, and of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, all of whom still await trial.
Two-tier policing, indeed.
More later. Sleep well.
Like the numbers game around Trump's first inauguration.
ReplyDeleteOr Trump's claim that the square footage of an apartment could be a matter of opinion.
