Kemi Badenoch is a self-confessed computer hacker, but Keir Starmer was quite wrong to say that two of her predecessors had convictions for breaches of the lockdown. A Fixed Penalty Notice is not a criminal conviction, and of course a King's Counsel knows that.
Jo Stevens, who is a solicitor, repeated the error on Politics Live, which is outside parliamentary privilege, making her statement libellous.
Never mind Boris Johnson. Stevens has falsely accused another sitting MP of having a criminal conviction, a sitting MP who would not struggle to afford a good lawyer, while Starmer has made that statement about him on the floor of the House. Time for a very pointed Point of Order, Rishi Sunak.
Your comment on Guido saying this has been noticed.
ReplyDeleteThe government could regret annoying Infosys like this.
ReplyDeleteThat would be Final Stage Blairism.
