Călin Georgescu does not believe that the Moon landings took place, and he does not believe that water is H20, but he does believe that there are nanochips in carbonated drinks, and he does believe that he met a "non-human" at the United Nations.
Yet if Romanians want to vote for him, then that is a matter for them. They are being denied that right because of videos on TikTok. Yes, really. Elena Lasconi, who would have faced Georgescu in today's runoff, is a bog standard liberal-Rightist who got the gig because she was recognisable as a newsreader, making her a Romanian Anna Soubry, so I would not have voted for her, either.
But in all fairness to Lasconi, she never sought the annulment of the first round. Although what does it say about her and every other candidate, including the Prime Minister, Marcel Ciolacu, both that they could be beaten by Georgescu, and that at least some of them could blame it on TikTok? If that is what you think of the voters, then you are not fit to represent them. As they clearly grasped.
NATO and the EU aren't even pretending any more.
