I do not know what the Labour Party needs at the moment, but I know what it does not need. It does not need a Deputy Leadership Election.
Even Tony Blair needed John Prescott as his Deputy, and Gordon Brown would have done a lot better with Jon Cruddas.
If the Left wants to keep the Leadership, then it needs the traditional Right in the Deputy Leadership. Right now, that means Tom Watson.
