Act of Union

Laypeople, at least, have always moved freely between the Church of England and the Church of Scotland, routinely and in considerable numbers. The Queen has always done that every year, for a start.

But the regularisation of this state of affairs, primarily because the Scottish Episcopalians and the URC have both signed up to same-sex marriage (and will perhaps now hook up with each other), has a reasonable claim to be the most Unionist act since 1707.

The most English and the most Scottish of institutions, each protected explicitly in and by the Treaty of Union, have very emphatically decided that they are Better Together.
