"He Even Rode The Horse"

I do have to congratulate Ed Miliband on that line. Alex Massie on his Spectator blog is using the very word "affair" in a headline about Cameron and Brooks. This is now a matter of public record.

I have just watched Channel 4's documentary on the role of Archbishop Cosmo Gordon Lang in engineering, with the Editor of The Times and eventually with the Prime Minister, the removal of Edward VIII. In the wake of the Abdication, Lang broadcast that the former King's circle, with standards so far below those of the mass of his people, had been "rebuked by the nation".

Something makes me think that the two paragraphs above ought to be connected. Can anyone explain to me how they might be?

  1. Oh, you are bad, Mr. L! Do try and remember that you are David Lindsay. This is all great fun, but there are lesser minds to provide it.
