Unrecognisable

Why does it matter which would-be President of the Ivory Coast is "internationally recognised"? What does that even mean, exactly? What matters is being the lawful, constitutional President within and under the Ivorian Constitution and Ivorian law. Being "internationally recognised" matters as little as whether or not military action where we have no national interest, such as in Libya, has been "authorised" by the United Nations Security Council.

  1. er, do yuo think he may be internationally recognised because he won the election under the Ivorian constitution and law?

Honestly David, your desire to hop into bed with anything that opposes Western actions does lead you into some ridiculous positions, not to mention dodgy allies

  2. You haven't answered the question. And, as in Libya, I don't see who even your "liberal interventionist" dog is supposed to be in this fight. In Libya, Gaddafi or the Islamists? In the Ivory Coast, and Islamist-tribalist or a tribalist with close ties to the American Evangelical Right despite having two wives?

  3. As ever, the neocons and liberal interventionists are on the side of the Islamists, both Libyan and Ivorian.

But you are right, in either case the other side is no better.

If American Evangelicals can side with Likud or its coalition partners, then polygamists are easy.
