Grow Up

Now, don't get me wrong. I sit here typing away with a glass poured from the bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label King George V Edition that one of my freshers has very kindly given me. But the worst physical attacks on the organs of the British State, as such, since a foreign power with which we had chosen to pick a fight was dropping bombs out of the sky onto them? For what? For what? For what?

The seriously ill being booted off Incapacity Benefit, and soon to be made to take over what were other people's paid jobs in order to retain even the dole? The utterly, utterly pointless war in Afghanistan, which has been going on for half their lifetimes and which is now harvesting the boys next to whom they were seated in order to function as unpaid teaching assistants? No, merely that the privileges of the upper middle class have been challenged.

Grow up. Grow up, the lot of you.

  1. Good points.

As an American this may be none of my business, but why be angry at Prince Charles? How is this whole debacle his fault? People are always going on about monarchs being so awful, but last time I checked they weren't the ones gambling with the world's money and then asking the common folks to bail them out when they lost their bets, then demanding austerity to pay for it all!

Indeed, sometimes I wonder if monarchs had some more power, maybe some of these things could have been avoided. In every bit of purple there is always some red.

  2. He was there. Quite by chance, though not a chance that should have been allowed to present itself. But that was all: he happened to be there.
