Ignore all other suggestions. There are two reasons why Chris Williamson is not a Labour candidate at this General Election.
He was the only member of the last House of Commons actively to support Julian Assange. And he was the only member of the last House of Commons openly to take Modern Monetary Theory seriously.
On both grounds, it is all to the good that he faces a Labour opponent at Derby North. And on both grounds, it is absolutely imperative that he be re-elected there.
Another hung Parliament is coming, and we need our people to hold the balance of power in it. I am standing for Parliament here at North West Durham.
I did invite Julian Assange to become one of my Campaign Patrons, but his lawyer very kindly wrote back to say that he was too ill to take on even that level of commitment.
