You certainly don't get that in an allegedly more "Western" country further south.

That's because Israel is a Jewish state. You're saying that Jews can't be pro-Western. Not for the first time your racist slip is showing.
ReplyDeleteA country with a European official language, which requires that the President be a Maronite Catholic, and where the Christian vote, as such, decides the elections (the case in every Western country), is at least Western as anywhere where nothing remotely comparable is the case.

And a country which has three reserved parliamentary seats for Christians (and one for a Jew) is at least Western as anywhere where nothing remotely comparable is the case.
Any one of Lebanon, Syria or Iran is at least as Western as either Israel or Turkey. Some things do matter even more than the Eurovision Song Contest, you know?
