Ignore the ludicrous poll in The Observer. It takes absolutely no account of local circumstances, as these things can't. It simply extrapolates from a couple of dozen people in fashionable London, as these things do.
It even arbitrarily picks seats (such as Durham City) that it predicts Labour to hold, knowing full well that there comes a point at which nobody is going to believe predictions of Tory gains, and that those seats are well beyond that point.
The odd Lib Dem gain is predicted, and seats in Scotland and Wales are allocated to the Nationalists. But that is window-dressing.
It's drivel. Ignore it, and refuse to be bullied by this sort of thing. Wherever you live, vote as you feel is right. That'll teach them.
If you're the David Lindsay who has a piece in the Daily Post today I just want to say, it's brilliant. If not have a read of it!
ReplyDeleteVery many thanks, and duly posted here.
ReplyDeleteHow long until your party starts campaigning? Surely you are not just relying on your inevitable landslide in north west durham? Surely Durham is worth a shot. Labour wont hold on to it and having a Lib Dem Council is putting off many potential voters. I would start campaigning there now - even if you do not have a candidate...it is there for the taking! I would imagine that all of your Durham tutees would campaign for you.
ReplyDeleteThat depends what you mean by campaigning. Life isn't all the Net or in the papers, you know. There isn't going to be a General Election for 18 months yet, anyway.
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting to hear from someone in Durham City, actually. It's a very interesting seat these days. Remember, we only ever have to be the first past the post, and that on a very low turnout these days.
