Auntie Has Her Finger On The Pulse

The Westminster Hour (I can’t be bothered to watch the Aaronovitch-Blair rubbish) is pleased to inform the grateful nation, not only that it can be difficult to find an NHS dentist, but also that “young people” use the Internet to “engage with politics” in ways undreamed of before this medium was invented. There’s not much gets past you, is there, Auntie?

    You're thinking of Labour, the Tories and the Lib Dems, Alan. Only children should be in them, but only the residents of old people's homes are.

    Blogging, Facebooking (when I have time), and being a tutor at Durham.

    What sort of thing do you have in mind? When things really take off in the New Year (well on course, I might add), then politically engaged young people, of whom there are many which is why there are now so few in the parties, will have no trouble noticing us.

    But I'm not doing any ghastly, patronising "youth" rubbish. I can't imagine anything more likely to drive them away. The BPA is for people, regardless of age, who are interested in politics. People who aren't are free to join Labour, the Tories or the Lib Dems.

    Do those things help to increase the awareness of young people in your party?

    I only ask because I'm on Facebook myself, and it's great but it hasn't helped me to get in touch with anyone I didn't already know.
