Even the BBC is now talking about "allegations of war crimes on both sides", albeit within the ongoing saturation coverage of a war that Britain is not in. The Ministry of Defence is issuing daily briefings. Is it doing that for every war that we are not in? Is it doing that for the war in Yemen, which we are in? We have no reason to want either the Wagner Group or the Azov Battalion to win a war, but we are going to have to deal with whichever of them had done so.
Things are heading towards a settlement that, had it been proposed six weeks ago, would have prevented the war altogether. Nothing like the present regime in Ukraine would ever implement that, just as it never implemented the Minsk Agreements, so regime change is coming to Ukraine. Would the departure of the regime in Russia also be welcome? Yes, of course. But as in Ukraine, that is not a matter for Britain.
One day they will all pretend to have agreed with us from the start.
