Do Not Suspend Your Mind

Of course Russia should never have been on the United Nations Human Rights Council, as technically it still is. Nor should numerous other members of that body, including Ukraine.

Today, Volodymyr Zelensky took along to the Parliament of Greece, of all countries, his dear friends in the Azov Battalion, who addressed the assembled legislators. So much for that Battalion's relative unimportance. Cypriot MPs have already announced a boycott, lest Zelensky stage a repeat performance.

Requiring a two thirds majority, Russia's suspension was made possible only by the 58 abstentions, including countries as significant as Brazil, South Africa, India, Pakistan and Mexico. 24 countries voted against, including China and Iran. Once again, Russia, those voting with Russia, those formally abstaining, and those recording no vote, accounted for more than half the population of the world.
