Systemic Flaws

If the Americans are concerned that the Russians are depriving Europe of gas, then why are they trying to block Nord Stream 2? But Britain ought not to need it, anyway.

We abandoned what remain our vast reserves of coal, and we ran down our nuclear energy capability. Yet now we complain that our dependence on Russian gas gives Russia a hold over us. 

We should count ourselves lucky that the full extent of that power is not being deployed. But of course it could be, and we would have only ourselves to blame if it were. We have only ourselves to blame as it is.
