Charlied No More

Oh, what fun the last day and a half have been.

People have found out what Charlie Hebdo really was, what that made its defenders, quite who was on that march (the Saudi Ambassador, anyone?), and quite what that row of politicians ostensibly at the front of it was in actual fact.

Chronicles and The American Conservative, the beating hearts of at least Anglophone paleoconservatism, have been, and remain, invaluable.

Invaluable against clever people pretending to be stupid, such as James Delingpole and the Breitbart London lot. Invaluable against stupid people pretending to be clever, such as Nigel Farage and UKIP.

I look forward to Charlie Hebdo's next blasphemous obscenity against Our Blessed Lord and His Blessed Mother, otherwise known as the Prophet Isa and the Virgin Mariam.

In the churches of Lebanon, they pray openly for "our last line of defence, the Brothers in the South", with whom their own parties are in alliance...
