The Mail has just sacked Dan Wootton. The Rothermere bid for the Telegraph is on. The same would have applied the other way round.
Those newspapers railed against the Leveson Report, which was far from faultless. But you need Government permission to own them.

ReplyDeleteWell, not so much a newspaper. The real centre ground of British politics is the desire to strengthen families and communities by securing economic equality and international peace through the democratic political control of the means to those ends, including national and parliamentary sovereignty.
DeleteWe need a national magazine of news and comment from that position. It should be in good, old-fashioned print, so that no boy in Silicon Valley would be able to press a button and close it down, and it should feature, on its odd-numbered pages, a weekly column by each of around 20 regular contributors, plus around five guest articles. The even-numbered pages would feature popular news stories relating to sport, television, music, and so on, plus advertising.
In the meantime, financial assistance is the first priority. From davidaslindsay@hotmail.com, a detailed plan is available to serious inquirers, with a view to having this project up and running in time to make it a significant force in the runup to the General Election late next year.
The catfight for the Telegraph will give you no end of fun.
