Has anyone else ever kissed hands as Prime Minister with a public record of republican opinion and activism? Liz Truss has never explained when or why she changed her mind.
The Government has banned trade unions from using electronic voting, and the election of Truss would have failed to reach the threshold for a strike. More people voted for the postal strike than have voted for her. There are MPs whose majorities in their individual constituencies are larger than the margin by which Truss has beaten Rishi Sunak.
That margin was smaller than the vote for Count Binface at the last London Mayoral Election, only just larger than the vote for Piers Corbyn, and far smaller than the vote for Laurence Fox. More than 10 times as many people supported Shaun Bailey's unsuccessful Mayoral candidacy than have voted to make Truss Prime Minister. And so on.
Has anyone else ever kissed hands as Prime Minister with a public record of republican opinion and activism?
ReplyDeleteIf there had been a Prime Minister Corbyn then the answer would have been yes. The fact that some of Truss's past opinions are uncomfortably close to those of the Bennite Far Left is of course why she now has to make such a self-conscious effort to appear "right-wing."
Hence her pledges on everything from enforcing deportations to Rwanda to scrapping the NI Protocol, lifting the ban on grammar schools and cutting taxes. The zeal of the (fake?) convert...
So the answer is no.
DeleteShe didn't curtsy.
