The wonder is that it has taken this long for Twitter to remove Donald Trump. Google and Apple have removed Parler in order to stop him from slipping back into the social media discourse, and this kind of thing is now going to be extended far and wide.
The people who are directly in the firing line today never cared about free speech when theirs was the cancel culture. But those of us who have never not been cancelled are pleased to welcome them to the outer circle of the hell that we have always inhabited.
The Internet has its place. But the moment has now arrived that I have been predicting for years, and years, and years. We need to get back into print if we want to give a voice to economic equality and international peace, to economic populism and foreign policy restraint, to national sovereignty and democratic control, to the Rust Belt and the Red Wall. Watch this space.
