As a proud member of Unite, I am delighted that it is cutting by 10 per cent the money that it gives to the abstentionist Labour Party. That delight turns to ecstasy when Ben Bradshaw of the Henry Jackson Society decides to spout off. However indirectly, why are we funding him to the tune of one penny piece?
Just as Labour is delighted to be rid of the Red Wall, and would rather lose forever than win by having won us back, so it longs to be rid of the beastly little common people in the trade unions, of which only fairly blue collar ones are affiliated to the Labour Party. The teaching unions, for example, are not and never have been.
The policy programme of the Labour Party is that of the Democratic National Committee, and it yearns for the same funding model as well. Instead of us, it wants the kind of people who funded Keir Starmer's Leadership campaign. Those were single individuals who each gave tens and even hundreds of thousands of pounds to a cause, because they could. Instead of that, our people should be active in the trade unions appropriate to their jobs where applicable, or otherwise in Unite Community.
In each constituency in 2024, there should be one candidate, of any party or none, who subscribed to this and this. The complete list of those candidates would appear here, and anywhere else that would publish it. If I could raise enough money to be a viable candidate, then I would contest the seat where the most people had offered to sign my nomination papers. Please give generously.
